Mai Chau — Ethnic Hill Tribes (3 days)

DAY 1 — Hanoi - Mai Chau
Departing Hanoi, you will be driven halfway to Mai Chau, before stopping in the city of Hoa Binh. There you board a small local motorised boat and navigate the Song Da Reservoir, the largest in Vietnam. You will pass Ba Khan Islands, described as Halong Bay on freshwater, as we take the 3hr boat journey to Mai Chau. Just outside of the village of Mai Chau, the White Thai villages of Ban Lac and Pom Coong allow visitors to step into Thai life by observing rural lifestyle and traditional stilt houses. On arrival at the village, you will be free to explore Mai Chau and its surrounds. At night you will enjoy an extensive home cooked meal preceded by the traditional welcome tasting of a local rice wine.
DAY 2 — Mai Chau
After breakfast at our home-stay, we take an easy trek for 3 hrs around the beautiful Mai Chau valley to visit more Muong and Thai minority villages. After a relaxing picnic lunch and an opportunity to shop for local ethnic handicrafts, your driver will be waiting to drive you to Hoa Binh where you will check into the Vy Resort. Here you are able to take advantage of the resorts many facilities before the return trip to Hanoi tomorrow.
DAY 3 — Mai Chau - Hanoi
After checking out of the resort, it is a leisurely drive back to Hanoi.
