"Sapa is stunning. As soon as you get into the mountains and breathe in the air, you'll be in love"
Tracis Fennell - Wide Eyed Tours Owner

Spend three days exploring the stunning landscapes of Sapa and meeting the friendly ethnic minority groups who live here. This full on trip will take you trekking with the tribes, give you the chance to stay with a local family (optional extra) and take you to a bustling marketplace full of local tribespeople. You'll enjoy a river cruise before heading back to Hanoi on an overnight train.

  • DAY 01

You will start you adventure by boarding the night train from Hanoi to the border town of Lao Cai in a comfortable 4 berth cabin.

  • DAY 02

Arrive early morning in Lao Cai and drive 1 hr to Sapa. After checking into hotel you are free to enjoy the day at leisure in Sapa and the surrounds. We reccomend taking a walk through the hills to meet the local people> If you'd like a guide for this day just let us know.

  • DAY 03

    Coc Ly

After breakfast we embark on the 2hr journey to Coc Ly Market. Our local guide will give you fascinating insights into the various ethnic groups trading from this remote and seldom visited area. Afterwatds we board a longtail boat to cruise down a river valley, taking in the unspoilt scenery along the way. We stop for lunch by the river where there is an opportunity for exploring a cave. After lunch back on the boat and on to visit a hilltibe village before returning to Lao Cai to board the overnight train back to Hanoi.

Vietnam's Overnight Trains

Vietnam's overnight trains are basic, but a lot of fun. You'll board the train at a local train station and be assigned your own personal 4 birth compartment. The beds have soft matresses and room to stow your luggage. There is a dining cart selling noodles and drinks and a toilet. There isn't a shower on board so we reccomend taking some wet wipes or waiting until you reach the hotel to freshen up.

Accomodation on this trip is basic but comfortable. You'll be staying in:
  • An overnight train for two nights
  • A three star hotel in Sapa for one night
If you'd like to upgrade your Sapa accommodation to a better standard hotel, or swap your hotel stay for a homestay just let us know.

  • Train to and from Hanoi
  • English speaking local guides
  • All transport in and around Sapa
  • Boat ride along the river
  • One breakfast and one lunch
