What To See In Hue?
Explore the Hue Citadel & Forbidden Purple City
The city of Hue stretches far beyond these walls, however, The Imperial City of Hue is protected by a citadel with a perimeter wall 2.5 kilometres in length. The entire structure is a brilliant exhibition of Vietnamese architecture.
Within the Imperial City is the Purple Forbidden City and, in days gone by, was only accessible to the Imperial Family.
Tourists can visit the Citadel and Forbidden Purple City from 7:30 pm to 5:00pm daily.
Thien Mu Pagoda
Located on the banks of the perfume river, this pagoda is an iconic symbol of Hue and was home to the venerable monk, Thich Quang Duc, who self immolated in Saigon in 1963.
Where To Stay in Hue?
Hue is a smaller city than that of Hanoi and so there are only a few what we believe quality hotels and resorts to stay at. We can personally recommend our favourite resorts and hotels to suit your budget and preferences and let you in on gems like The Pilgrimage Resort and secluded beach villas that the average travel guide book would not have found.
Book your custom made tour to Hue
Many visitors to Hue never find its heart. They don’t notice the women wearing royal purple Ao Dais, the traditional Vietnamese dress, floating by in the parklands surrounding the great tombs and citadels, matching purple umbrellas shading them from the harsh Central Vietnamese sun. And they never find the hidden pagodas where nuns serve vegetarian meals to rival any restaurant in the country. And most of all, they never hear the true story of Hue, a city with more history than anywhere else in Vietnam. Our local guides know every secret of this enchanting city and can not wait to create a tailor made tour to Hue for you.
Depending on where you are in the country, we can organize travel to Hue for your family or group. It is possible to fly to Hue domestically, catch the train from either South or North Vietnam, or via private car, bus, or Jeep from nearby cities such as Danang and Hoi An.
