5km from Hoi An Old Town, An Bang beach ticks all the boxes in terms of a picture-perfect location. Wide, sandy and unspoilt? Check. Turquoise, calm waters that are safe for swimming? Check. Backdrop of palm trees? Check? Enough beach bars, cafes and restaurants to energise you for a day of sun-lounging and watersports? You betcha. Why visit An Bang beach?
Despite becoming a lot more popular, and less peaceful than it once was, An Bang is still incredibly beautiful. Its wide, white sands aren’t crammed with deckchairs, but there are plenty to go around – and are typically included when you buy a drink or some food. Its waters may include plenty of activities – paragliding, paddle boarding and windsurfing, to name a few – but walk for a few minutes towards Da Nang to the north, or Cua Dai beach to the south, and you’ll find pockets of complete calm.
An Bang offers a chance to truly slow down: and if you’re tired after your travels, this is one of the most scenic spots you’ll ever find to do so. So whether you fancy walking or running its 4km stretch of golden sand every day, swimming or snorkeling in the warm, clear sea or simply chilling out with a coconut, An Bang’ll give you that holiday feeling
After the sun sets, there’s a real buzz around the winding streets behind the beach. With some great local restaurants and Western favourites, too – plus plenty of bars, a music venue and a cocktail lounge to sample, you’ll be glad of the chance to snooze on the beach the next day!

If you’re visiting Hoi An, a day trip or an overnight stay in An Bang Beach is a must. Even if you choose to stay elsewhere, cycling through Hoi An’s rice fields towards An Bang is a wonderful experience in itself. And the beach is so beautiful, many day trippers from Da Nang come here, too.
And whether you choose to get up early for yoga, swimming or to witness locals doing their calisthenics, to hang around for sunset with a refreshing beer or cocktail, or to spend the entire day being a beach bum (hey, you are on holiday, after all!), bring your sunscreen, pack a good book and check out An Bang beach.

- Get up early to see fishermen casting out in basketboats, younger locals playing football and older ones burying themselves in the sand to cool off
- Check out Phuong’s Beach at the top end for tasty local food on the sand or Sound of Silence further south (technically, Tan Thanh rather than An Bang beach) for great coffee with a view
- Visit the morning market behind the main street for tasty local dishes and to stock up on fruit/snacks for your beach day ahead. Thom’s Sourdough Bakery has tempting treats, too!
