It’s a big question, but an important one. In a sprawling city like Bangkok, where you stay can significantly impact your experience. Sukhumvit is renowned for its vibrant nightlife. Sathorn offers upscale accommodation and plenty of green spaces. Silom is bustling with workers during the day but comes alive in the evening. Siam is perfect for those who want to shop until they drop. And Khao San Road continues to be a mecca for backpackers. Meanwhile, staying close to the Chao Praya River might be a good option for families: with easy access to attractions and a more relaxed experience in the heart of the city.

Bangkok has it all. You can shop, feast, party, and explore to your heart’s content. A sample day itinerary might start with an early visit to marvel at the Grand Palace or Wat Arun, then cool off with some retail therapy in an air-conditioned downtown mall. In the late afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Chao Phraya River or take a leisurely stroll through Lumpini Park. When night falls, glam up for a cocktail at a swanky rooftop bar or dive into the lively bar scene on Khao San Road.

That said, Bangkok burnout is a genuine thing, especially for first-timers. 3 days is enough to visit the Grand Palace, see a temple or two, and take a boat ride. 5 days will give room to spend a day getting lost in the stalls at Chatuchak Market and a day nursing a hangover. A full week and you could throw in an excursion to Attuhaya or one of the floating markets.
