Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Phong Nha
Welcome to Phong Nha! We’re excited to show you all the overground and underland delights of this special area. Today is about taking your time and catching your breath – rest up and enjoy some of Phong Nha’s great eateries while you save energy for tomorrow’s adventures.

Day 2: Caving
Your driver and guide will pick you up at your accommodation and transfer you to Phong Nha town. From there, it’s time to visit the National Park and Paradise Cave.
Paradise Cave (Dong Thien Duong) was only discovered in 2005, which somehow makes it even more special. It also has a length of 31.4km – and it’s the longest dry cave in Asia. With naturally primitive features, Paradise Cave looks like a landscape painting – and its series of white crystal stalactites and stalagmites create the perfect background for photos, too.
After lunch, you’ll return to Phong Nha town for a boat trip to Phong Nha Cave: national legacy, natural wonder and relic of the historic Ho Chi Minh trail. After exploring this impressive cave by boat and foot, you’ll get back to the hotel before dinner.

This tour is great for people of all ages: especially people who want to see a different side of the caves while visiting the National Park of Phong Nha-Ke Bang.
Note: People over 90kg, less than 40kg and pregnant woman can't do the zip-line. You WILL get wet – and quite muddy – on this tour…so bring your swimwear, and make sure that it's not white or expensive!

Frequently asked questions about Phong Nha
Is Phong Nha worth visiting?
The impressive caves, the tranquil riverside, the outdoorsy activities and the chance to explore the surrounding jungle by car, foot or bike all make a trip to Phong Nha more than worthwhile. And now that it’s becoming a ‘must-see’ on many Vietnam travel itineraries, there’s also some great places to stay in Phong Nha, some delicious food to be tasted and excellent coffee to enjoy while you’re at it.
How long should I spend in Phong Nha?
You’ll have enough time to see the caves, the national park and fit in a hike or biking tour if you stay in Phong Nha for 3–4 days. However, to fully enjoy the tranquil life along the Son River, and check out the town’s great options for food and coffee, you could stretch this to a week, or even more!
What is special about Phong Nha Cave?
The Phong Nha Cave complex is famous for its grottos and rock formations, with memorable names like “Lion”, the “Fairy Caves” and the “Royal Court”.
Son Doong Cave is the world’s largest cave – and it was only discovered in 1990. It’s amazing that such a vast space, which looks like an underground city with a large river running through it, could have been hidden until relatively recently. Although the cave is almost 8,000m long, tourists can only explore the first 1,500m, giving it an air of mystery that other tourist attractions may lack.
How do you get to Phong Nha?
Getting to Phong Nha is an exciting, and scenic, experience in itself. You can catch the train to the sleepy riverside town of Dong Hoi – great for local seafood – before going onwards to Phong Nha by private transfer, whether that’s by car or on the back of a motorbike.
Whether you’d like the overnight train, or would prefer an internal flight (around 1.5 hours from either Hanoi or Saigon), our team of local travel assistants can arrange everything: to make getting to Phong Nha as simple and enjoyable as possible.
